A while ago, I mentioned my dream of someday opening a panty boutique, Chest of Drawers. I had mixed feelings of wholesale vs. custom designs so I decided to try and sew a basic pair of panties to test whether or not it was something I could enjoy doing on a larger scale basis. WHAT FUN! I had such a good time picking the fabric, washing the fabric, cutting the pattern, pinning, the whole nine yards (there’s a joke in there somewhere I’m sure). They do not fit to my size and are a bit long, but for the very first pair, I’m quite proud of them. I’m still unsure on wholesale vs. custom but at least I know I can have fun designing and making my panties. I’m going to keep sewing practice ones so that I’m completely confident in selling them on Etsy in a few months.

On another note, I started with Happy Feet again. I’m happy to have rejoined them, as they are such a fun bunch of gals! It’s great exercise, too. I’m going to have so much fun performing with them soon.

Happy Hump Day!

Tonight’s project is something so cute my friend Meredith came up with. She brought it into work and I thought, “Wow, what a great cute idea!” Then I decided to blog it! This project takes about an hour and requires nothing but scissors, fabric remnants, and twine or yarn (color is your choice).

To start, pull out any fabric remnants, left-overs, mess ups, clearance fabric you have lying around. Don’t lie, you know you do! Decide on any theme of your choice. If you have tons of Christmas fabric, make it all holiday themed. This is your chance to be creative! My garland is going to be chic themed because I have no particular category of fabric.

Step One

Cut your fabric remnants into strips, about an inch or an inch and a half thick, and about six to seven inches long. Or, for a more chic look, rip the strips so the edges are rough. Like so:

Step Two

Cut out the length of twine or yarn you’re going to want to string. I am cutting mine about four feet long.

Step Three

Start to tie the strips of fabric to the twine, at either end or at the middle if you’d like. Space them as evenly or as unevenly as you’d like. Let your creativity flow! You can tie them in a knot, you can tie them in a bow, or a little bit of each. It’s your garland, so you decide.

Final Step

Now you’re done! Simply string the garland around your Christmas Tree, over a window, or across your cubicle walls!

I stumbled upon this quick and fun project idea while shopping with my mother and little sister at none other than the best crafts store in the universe, JoAnn’s.

Total cost of this project: less than $10

Here’s what you’ll need:

Wired Bone Wreath

Hot Glue Gun

Plastic Flowers

Glue Sticks

Let’s get started.

Warm up your Glue Gun. I like to use a paper plate underneath it to catch drips.

Remove the large flowers from the stems very carefully so as not to rip the flower.

BEFORE GLUING: Arrange the flowers on the wreath in the order you want it to look when its done.

Start at the top and pour hot glue on the stub of the flower and then press it firmly onto the wreath. Continue doing this until each flower is glued on.

Add additional adornments at this point if you see fit, such as pine cones, leaves, ribbon, or a big bow at the top of the wreath.

Allow it to dry on a table for at least an hour before hanging. Then, Voila! You’re done!
