New Year’s Resolutions

With the New Year upon us, it’s time for those pesky resolutions to be set forth in motion once again. As silly as they are, New Year’s Resolutions help me focus on areas of my life that need improvement. Life is about growing, learning, changing, becoming the best possible version of yourself that you can be. Then, once you reach perfection…you die. That’s the great circle of life, isn’t it? Anyway, my resolutions for this year are as follows:

Smile Every Day.

Continue to take care of my body and strive for healthy eating habits.

Appreciate my job & co-workers more.

Save funds for a “grand” adventure to the Galapagos Islands.

Take chances, trust more.

Finish my half sleeve tattoo.

Make an effort to spend more time with my family, both locally and across the country.

I wish everyone a very Merry New Year with lots of smiles, success, and happiness in the coming year. :)

Conversations with Jack

12 things I’ve learned by being patient and really LISTENING to my pup:

(NOT rushing to the lease in the morning) You won’t pee outside in the pouring rain, why should I?
(whining at his food bowl) Mom, some got stuck under the dish and I can’t reach it, help!
(tilted side head) – WTF, Mom?!?!
(nose in face first thing in morning) Mom, I want belly scratches, kisses, hugs, play time, you name it, I want it…NOW.
(not getting out of bed on Saturday morning) Ugh Mom, it’s like…way early…come back to bed and snuggle with me.
(mom has tears, jack jumps in my lap) Momma, please don’t cry. Let me wipe those tears away, OK?
(yawning while playing a game with mom) This game is so boring, mom.
(yelping at his toy box) Mom, you put all my favorite toys at the very bottom of the toy box and I can’t reach them! I need to do roll call on the 15 tennis balls!
(Mom pulling out her clogging shoes to practice in the kitchen) OHHHH, Mom’s gonna play with her feet, time to get every single tennis ball and try to get her to accidentally kick them to me!
(pushing up against mom while she’s watching T.V on the couch) MMMOOOOOOOMMM, get your butt off my blanket!!
(Jack makes a smelly fart then looks at me) WHOA Mom, that was SOO gross. Let me know next time, K thanks? (Then he jumps off the couch and pretends it was ME who did it!!)
(Tail wagging really fast while giving mom kisses) Mom, I love you so much! Thanks for being my momma!!

Wait, what just happened?

October FLEW by in a blur. I was out of town every single weekend! But, oh what fun, fun, fun. Highlights included a trip to Virginia Beach for one of my girlfriend’s birthday, a week long trip to Jacksonville, FL for some quiet time with friends, finishing the Tough Mudder race in Wintergreen, Virginia with eight awesome ladies, THEN ended the month with an impromptu kidnapping of my sister, Danielle, from Charlotte, NC and an awesome halloween party with some awesome people! I’m operating on about 2.5 hours of sleep in the last 48 but what an awesome, epic month it’s been!! I’m ready for some quiet time.

What a beautiful day! After hurricanes, earth quakes, flash floods, and excessive heat this summer, today’s breeze is such a welcome change. I’m very much looking forward to the Fall weather. Here’s a few quick shots of my walk through Old Town today on my lunch hour. Enjoy.
