So, I’m back! I spent six days exploring the Grand Canyon, the Hoover Dam, and Las Vegas!
The Grand Canyon was a truly extraordinary site to experience in person. I highly recommend taking the trip at least once in your lifetime. The deep gorges and the stacked giant rocks were just amazing. We camped at the base of the Grand Canyon, at Kaibab Lake, with no running water! Aside from one minor injury on my clumsy part, we made it out alive and intact.
The next stop was the Hoover Dam, one of the 7 modern engineering wonders of the world. Being that it was 103 degress, we didn’t stay long. They are currently building a massive suspended bridge across the top of the moutains above the Hoover Dam. I kind of thought that was a much more impressive architectural wonder than the Dam itself. The humorous part of that trip was when I cashed out at the Visitor Center and the cashier said, “here’s your dam receipt, now sign it!”
Lastly, we partied hard at Las Vegas. During the day, we did the free sites with Krystal (being as she is only 11 years old). At night, we gambled all of our life savings away (all 40 bucks) and danced our way down Freidmont Street, the Las Vegas version of Mardi Gras. Even Krystal managed to have a good time. I’d go into more detail, but as they say…
What Happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!
