Twitter Brings Greatness to our Fingertips

I’m a bit young to be a star trek fan, but I have to admit that I am. Having grown up in a home where Star Trek: The Next Generation was on every day while my mother folded laundry, I grew to love this series. Of course, ALL of the Star Trek series are excellent, but the Next Generation brings back found memories. I even remember being a young girl madly in love with Data for being so sensitive and trying to mimic his robotic nature. Star Trek has made me laugh (got to love those tribbles), cry (The Measure of a Man), and even jump out of my seat in fear(Star Trek: Insurrection). So, you can imagine the joy that filled my heart when I discovered these much loved actors are on Twitter!

I’m fairly new to Twitter and have only begun to explore its uses. I discovered Will Wheaton’s feed by accident, and Twittered all the way across to Levar Burton, Brent Spiner, and even Leonard Nimoy! I am familiar and active in the web world and knew that Will Wheaton has driven into techie areas. I was so delighted to see how active he is in the twittering world. I followed Brent Spiner’s feed to Levar Burton, which were both very exciting. Even a fraction of a glimse of these great men would have been the best gift imaginable, but to be able to follow them daily is just amazing. It makes these untouchable, historic screen legends seem a bit more real, like me. I love that they are all fond of their time on Star Trek, and even refer to it for jokes about themselves. It’s just great to see a “trekie” BEING a “trekie.”

I’m all “grown up” now and have developed a passion for Sci-Fi, watching many of the new shows out there today. However, Star Trek will forever and always be my bridge into this world and hold very special memories for me. Thank you Twitter, for bringing such greatness into my living room again.
